Why is paint dispensing automatically without pulling the trigger?
Dried paint residue may be jamming the needle or the nozzle alignment tab is not properly locked in place.
Needle Jammed by Dried Coating
If dried paint accumulates on the needle shaft or spring, the needle cannot return to its forward sealed position, leaving the fluid nozzle partially open so paint discharges continuously.
Nozzle Alignment Tab Displaced
Ensure the alignment tab on the nozzle is fully seated into the mating slot on the spray gun body. If misaligned, the needle cannot seat flush against the nozzle aperture.
Recommended Corrective Steps
Disassemble the fluid nozzle, soak in warm soapy water (or appropriate solvent for solvent-based paints), clean the needle shaft, and verify the needle springs back freely before reassembling.
